Answer six questions and get Hawaii public hunting units on every island ranked by habitat fit, 2026–27 seasons and public land for pigs, goats, mouflon and feral sheep, axis deer and black-tailed deer.
DLNR's Division of Forestry and Wildlife manages 43 public hunting units on Hawaiʻi Island, Maui, Lānaʻi, Molokaʻi, Oʻahu and Kauaʻi. DLNR does not publish harvest by unit, so this tool scores each unit on USGS land cover (NLCD 2001 Hawaii) and elevation, its share of public land and how well its seasons fit your dates and gear.
Season fit uses the HAR 13-123 game mammal rules for each island, with the Hawaiʻi Island adaptive management amendments effective May 18, 2026: legal gear, hunting periods and hunting days by unit. Turkey, pheasants, francolins, quail, chukar and doves follow the HAR 13-122 game bird rules (Nov. 7, 2026–Jan. 31, 2027 on weekends and holidays).

The public hunting units with the highest average reported harvest for each species. High totals often reflect large areas and many hunters; the tool above also weighs harvest per square mile, hunter success, habitat and access.
