Answer six questions and get Michigan counties ranked by habitat fit, 2026 season dates, public land and DNR harvest reports.
Michigan hunters must report every deer and turkey, and the DNR publishes the reports by county. This tool scores all 83 counties for the species you pick using reported deer harvest for 2022–2025 (antlered, antlerless and archery) and spring 2026 turkey harvest, USGS land-cover and elevation data, and the share of public land such as state forests, state game areas and national forests.
Season fit uses the DNR's 2026 calendar: archery, regular firearm (Nov. 15–30), the Upper Peninsula muzzleloader and Lower Peninsula December and late antlerless firearm seasons, bear hunt periods by bear management unit, elk hunt periods and the spring 2027 turkey hunts.

The counties with the highest average reported harvest for each species. High totals often reflect large areas and many hunters; the tool above also weighs harvest per square mile, hunter success, habitat and access.
